Hi there, my name is Will Yap and I am from the little town of Klang, Selangor. I started out my career in the oil and gas industry about 10 years ago working as a site engineer at Kuantan Port for one of Petronas piping project.

Later, I did a 180 degree career change and went into Information Technology (I.T.) when the industry was booming. I ended up coming back to KL working for a software sales company.

For the next 8 years, my work revolves around sales ranging from building material, specialised building maintenance services, financial services and computer hardware.

3 years ago, I developed an interest for the internet particularly how to sell and marketing using the world wide web. It was a very exciting time because everything was very new to me.

My main goal of learning internet marketing is to remove myself from the corporate working life or the dreaded J.O.B. After almost a decade working for someone else, it’s about time I do something for myself.

In The Trenches

My first year in my internet marketing career was mainly learning the ropes of the industry. I spent thousand of ringgit on books and attending courses.

I started off being an affiliate with the Amazon.com program. The first online marketing strategy I did was Pay Per Click (PPC) with Google Adwords. The traffic was fast but it is also very expensive.

A big chunk of my money was spent learning the system. My PPC cost was very much higher than the commission I earned from Amazon. I was running at a lost every week and that lasted for 6 months.

Next, I started to promote information products from Clickbank. I didn’t want to spend more money on PPC and decide to learn the free traffic approach via article marketing.

I took me about a week and then I got my first sale. My business cost was zero and my commission was USD33. I was ecstatic!

It is a great feeling when your hard work pays off.

I keep on working on my online business and I also started to learn blogging to generate traffic and sales.

18 months after I’ve decided to learn internet marketing, I quit my job and since then have been working full time on my online business.

Today, I work from the comfort of my home from my computer next to my bed. I am very fortunate being able to run my own business without stress. What I really love is the time freedom. I can work anytime I want.

Sometime I will work from 4 to 6 am and then take a nap til noon. Sometime I spend the whole day working, but sometime I just do nothing or play computer games all day.

The best of all is not having to get stuck in traffic commuting to work. In the evening when I go to the gym in Bangsar, I’ll notice the traffic jam along Jalan Damansara. It’s very scary when you have to go through that day after day and week after week. It is a nightmare when you have to experience that for years!

I feel very fortunate I am able to live the internet marketing lifestyle.
